Today no human wants to take the bus
Because of Corona Virus
We want to work but we can’t
Even if it was on the weekend
But we must sit at home
And we can’t stop looking at our phones
Reading every second to the latest news
Of Corona Virus
I want to entertain you with something different
To make you happy in this time of craziness
I want to remind you it’s March,
It’s when women are protagonists for once.
When I was a little girl I had a dream,
I wanted to live a life with no stream
I wanted to be an Adventuress
Rather than a Duchess, or an Empress
Live in the middle of the Nature
And eat fruits with a turtle
I will name you some of these ladies
Who are not mentioned in history books, unfairly.
Krystyna was the first woman to sail around the world alone,
She wasn’t afraid of big waves, of the wind and of cyclones.
The Czech and Swedish Renata,
Kayaked around lower 48 states of the USA,
She was also a cyclist
And she also climbed up the Everest, what an artist!
I also know about Robyn Davidson,
She loved animals as much as she loved the sun,
So she did a 1700 mile camel trek in the Australian desert
And enjoyed also the moons, that were fluorescent.
Another lady that liked the sand was Eva Dickson,
But instead of a camel she used a car,
And crossed the Sahara for fun.
Annie Londonerry,
Didn’t like to stay at home watching TV,
So she took her bicycle and started pedalling,
And cycled the whole earth smiling.
Ynes Mexia was not too much into fashion
Plants and flowers were her passion,
She became an explorer and a botanist
And discovered new species, she was a unique scientist
Annie Edson Taylor,
Wanted to be a Pirate and a sailor
She didn’t have a boat, only a barrel
So she went to Niagara Falls and rowed, and rowed
It was dangerous, but she survived
She wasn’t scared; she was proud and fine!
We will wait for the virus to go away
In order to start again to play
Now we have time to think
And trace a plan with pencil and ink
So when the time arrives
I will sail on a boat watching the sunrise
Feeling the salt on my skin
And listening to the parrots how they sing
Happy belated Women’s Day!
I hope you use this time to dream and not to fear!
