We Took The #EarthDayChallenge and These Are Our Learnings So Far

By: Diinsider

April 23, 2021

Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April and this year our very own Change-Makers at Diinsider took it to a whole new level by doing small yet impactful challenges at home which directly or indirectly contributed in reviving Mother Earth’s true spirit.  The reason why it is pivotal to do such acts is to remind ourselves of the daily activities that we do and how it impacts our environment and the planet.

After all, every day is Earth Day and let this challenge be a starting point for us to come closer with Mother Nature. Scroll to see what our Change-Makers have done this Earth Day

"Sitting quietly and meditating for 5 or 10 minutes in the morning always make me a good start for a day! It also gives a lot of energy to normalize my stressful situations!"

Aung Myat Thu, Myanmar Correspondent

"This Earth Day, I have been keen to do the #WorkoutChallenge at home to get rid of the negative energy and stress. So far I'm enjoying it as it helps me to have time to listen to my body and mind. Ultimately, when we embody a healthy sustainable living, we also give this energy to the world."

Gladys Llanes, Diinsider Co-founder

"I have good diet practices because it’s a family thing. But most of the time I eat vege and balanced diets because it’s already cooked ; ) and eat unhealthy ones outside. But since last year that I started working on self care, and that’s when I started intentionally eating them."

Jingyi Zhou, Diinsider Communications Manager

"For Earth Day, I read instead of streamed. For someone who loves binging shows, this was really hard to do! I read Asis' Strange Intimacies and Abueg's Analysis of the Market for Ukay-ukay. Both concern themselves with our relationship with clothing. I've taken quite the interest in the topic these days and am looking to write an article on it, too. As a writer, I must read to be able to write well. I haven't finished reading either of them but hey, it's a start!"

Lara Eviota, Philippine Correspondent

Wendell Berry said, "The Earth is what we all have in common." It is one thing that binds us together as creations of the world. So, let's save and protect it. After all, there's no Planet B. Happy Earth Day!

Lara Palay, Philippine Correspondent

"This is me writing on my Morning Gameful Journal. I do this daily to have a purposeful start the day"

Pam Viriyataveekul

"This is me supporting my mental health through reading a book!!"

Stella Zhang, Diinsider Program Manager

"How environmentally literate are you? Take this quiz and make yourself more educated www.earthday.org/environmental-literacy-quiz/"

Thinn Nay Chi Sun, Diinsider Myanmar County Assistant Director

"I guess staying at home and doing your transactions online will not only keep you safe from the virus, but also let you contribute to help minimize your carbon footprint."

TJ Biasong, Diinsider Content Producer

This is my shopping mate! To lessen the use of single use plastic bags, I'm using this for my grocery shopping!

Raywin Taroaniara, Solomon Island Correspondent

We hope that each and every reader out there feels the need to do their small bit. What the planet needs now is billions of people coming together and making sustainable switches in their lives imperfectly rather than having millions of people doing perfectly.
